Stitch and glue is a simple boat building method which uses plywood panels stitched together, usually with copper wire, and glued together with epoxy resin.this type of construction can eliminate much of the need for frames or ribs. plywood panels are cut to shape and stitched together to form an accurate hull shape without the need for forms or special tools.. 15 cool projects you can make from a single sheet of plywood. you can build a lot with a 4 x 8 piece of lumber.. 1) 1 4'x 8' sheet of 1/4 inch b/c grade plywood 2) 2 8" 2x4's (as few knots and a straight as possible, yeah, yeah i know) if you are not entering a contest like i was you might want to get a knot free 1x4 for the chine logs. 3) 1 roll of duct tape. (once again if you are not entering a contest like i did get yourself some waterproof adhesive, chaulk and maybe some fiberglass tape and resin.
Hi, its me again. if you read the last thread i started, you know that i'm building a plywood dinghy as my first boat and will be launching it this summer. here's my question; the transom is a panel of plywood, as can be expected. it has no knots, cracks, or flaws in it on the side facing out. what i'm wondering is, if i varnished it, would it look nice?. Deck construction is done in a similar way, all in single skin plywood. the cabintop is designed with a multi-chine skin and is assembled over the bulkheads by the stitch and glue method for a strong and lightweight structure..
